It is an old and famous saying that, “Time and tide wait for none”. So, it is very important to optimally utilise the time and avoid procrastinating.

In universities, time management skills are taught because our life is essentially a race against time. The time is one of the most precious resources available to us. And we have many projects on hand to complete within short time. Hence prioritization of work is important in order to avoid waste of time.

Procrastination is common and wide spread in schools and colleges. Students neglect their studies during their school term and wait till the last minute to prepare for examinations. They spend great deal of time in playing games, chatting, outing, watching movies and unnecessary shopping thereby they lose track of time and land panicking in the examination hall in the last moment and don’t fare well.

Toppers usually are consistent in their studies. They manage the right balance between studies and play. They are well prepared for the exams and perform well. They never panic at the last moment.

Time is just like a river; it keeps flowing forward and never turns back. You may delay your work and wait for the last minute to complete your tasks at hand, but time will continue to move forward.

Farmers keep a close watch of time and follow strict schedules for ploughing, planting and harvesting. Their schedules are according to the weather. If they delay their planting or harvesting time it will result into a disaster for them and the losses  so sustained are irreparable.

Everyone must value the time and not misuse it. As per a famous and old saying, “To realize the value of one year, ask a student who failed an examination. To realize the value of one month, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby. To realize the value of one minute, ask a person who just missed his train.

In nutshell, to realize the value of one second, ask someone who just escaped from an accident. Time is the most precious resource.  Even one second of our life is valuable. So, don’t waste it. Respect the time and the time respects you.

wise

At the birth the mind of an infant is the clean slate. As the time goes by, step by step the subject learns new things and gains knowledge. With the help of his or her insight one learns to perceive and make sense of the world around him or her and perform with the individual’s knowledge. Clearly, wisdom is not guaranteed by birth. Conscious effort from the individual is required. Greater the effort greater is the gain of knowledge to an individual.

Wisdom may be described in various different ways like (a) the knowledge gained by having many experiences in life, (b) knowledge of what is proper or reasonable (c) the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience (d) understanding and common sense. Whatever way wisdom is defined, fundamental to the wisdom is that it takes time and comes with experience, development of the ability to think, analyse, judge and act.

Wisdom is not something that one is born with but one acquires it over time. A person to gain wisdom has to make efforts to understand people, things and events and then apply his or her perception, judgment and action to the projects. For an example: Chanakya, Siddhartha, Aristotle and Plato are very renowned for acquiring wisdom. Though they weren’t born wise, but they gained wisdom over time and with a lot of their effort.

Years in the life bring experience. Knowledge with experience is wisdom. Nonetheless life is short to experience everything by self hence one has to depend on the experience of others. However, an individual can, certainly, benefit from the wisdom of ages passed on in the form of legends, stories, books etc to learn from them. In such a scenario too, the wisdom of ages can only act as a guiding light. It is up to the individual to apply and use the wisdom to suit to his/her position and gain from it.

Wisdom is not the by-product of age alone. One may be old enough and still unwise. Oscar Wilde said, ” With age comes wisdom, but sometimes age comes alone.”  Wisdom requires effort and hard work with patience.

In nutshell, wisdom cannot be taught or transferred from one to other.  The university buildings impart knowledge and not wisdom. Only when the person takes pains to make efforts with hard work, he or she gains wisdom and can be recognized as a wise person.

The term “alcohol” has been synonymous with “spirituous” liquids for the past 300 years. The history of alcohol consumption, along with codes limiting its consumption goes back to 1700 B.C. There are four types of alcohol: methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol and butyl alcohol. Ethyl Alcohol, or ethanol (C2H5OH), is the type used in the production of alcoholic beverages. The other three types, methyl, propyl and butyl alcohol, if consumed can result in blindness and death, even in relatively small doses.

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage”, said a noted American Author Anais Nin. The statement appears to be very simple, however it is very true.

When one is fearless, the possibilities of achievements in life appear to be infinite thereby expanding his or her life. Conversely when one nurses fear of failure one adopts avoidance behaviour and the possibilities of successes fall down drastically thereby equally shrinking an individual’s life.

Children are fearless, hence they dream big. They are carefree of rejections and failures therefore their dreams and possibilities seem infinite. But as one grows up, he or she comes across challenges of life and may face failures and rejections thereby accepts limitations. Limitations may be of skill-set, finances, or abilities. Many people view their limitations as obstacles and they are unable to overcome those hence they turn to be risk-averse and adopt avoidance behaviour.

Avoidance behaviour shrinks their dreams, goals and life. Conversely there are people, who despite all obstacles and limitations strive for success and achieve the goal. Such people make their dreams come true and their life expands because of their courage and absence of fear of failure.

Life is neither a bed of roses nor a bed of thorns – it the mixture of success, failure, obstacles and difficulties. What matters is the quality of life one leads. When one’s life consists of dreams and goals, it depends on one’s determination, dedication and perseverance.

In conclusion it is up to an individual to make the most his or her life. If one chooses to live life as coward, one will lose the opportunity to expand the life to his or her satisfaction. Whereas if one chooses to live life in a courageous manner, without fearing about failures, one will achieve the goals successfully and expand his or her life beyond horizon to one’s self esteem level.

students-at-computers1Essay 21st Century Skills

21st Century Skills can be defined as the core competencies like Collaboration, Creativity, Productivity, Communication, Information Literacy and Cross-Cultural Communication with Global Awareness. It is the need of the hour for the people to learn and acquire those skills to cope with the changes in technology and knowledge society.

Computer is a relatively new invention. Computers were invented about fifty years ago. However they came in extensive use some thirty years back. Personal Computers were put in use some times in the year 1980. Since then innovation in computerization developed leaps and bound thereby made tremendous positive impact on our lives. Now life without computers can’t be imagined.

Computerization means Virtualization. A virtualised computer server can boost processing power and reduce costs. To store, access or carryout online or by means of a computer is to computerize or digitize. Digitization means Converting Data and Information into Electronic Form. Essay on Baby Girl.

These days gender imbalance is becoming a grave problem especially in India. Girls are either aborted from mother’s womb or killed after birth. This gives rise to crimes like rape and killing. Write an essay emphasizing importance of women in the society.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

In ancient time birth of a girl child was considered as auspicious. As per an Indian proverb, “A home without a daughter is like a body without soul”. The birth of a daughter in the house was compared with the advent of Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth and Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom. No ceremony was considered to be complete in absence of women. The belief was that “No home is complete without a woman.”

Indian is a “Male Dominated Society” hence women are the receiving end. They are always will treated and ill-treated at every step. As a matter of fact, a girl child is under constant, vigil initially by the parents, then her husband and finally her own children. She is never allowed to dwell and survive freely. Worst of all she is often killed before being born while in mother’s womb itself. This is foetus killing or infanticide. This is the gross downfall of humanity, morality and the values.

The situation has drastically worsened these days. Women suffer badly, infanticide have become widespread. Parents don’t send daughters for schooling thinking that the daughter is going to be a kitchen confined housewife. There was, hence, decline in female literacy and her position in the society. This practice is lasting till today and the killing of foetus after the sex determination is fearlessly continued.

The crime of female foetus aborting is widespread not only in rural areas but in urban areas too.  With the help of new techniques it has become possible to determine the sex of the unborn baby or the foetus, and if it is found to be a girl child than, this is followed by abortion. Clinics offering such service have come up all over the country. For the doctors with sex identification equipments the said illegal business is booming beyond imagination. Although there are severing laws against the misuse of parental diagnostic techniques, those are meant only for detecting abnormalities in the unborn infant and associated risks to the pregnant mother if any. The doctors, however, violate this law. Not a single case has been field so far under the law, which forbids such an unethical practice.

Dowry is another big evil in some northern states of India. Father of the girl has to give lot of cash and gold to the bridegroom. This may be given either during the wedding or after the marriage ceremony. In case the father of the bride fails to spare the said valuables on account of his poor economic health, the bride (the daughter) is severely tortured or she may even be torched to death.  Today, the said problem is quite widespread in the northern states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Upon attaining puberty, a girl is considered to be a security risk, a likely source of trouble for the family’s honour and reputation. Then there are economic reasons for her killing. She is a liability for her parents from the cradle ceremony to the marriage. There has been not let up in the dowry system, which breaks the back of the parents. She is got rid of in order to save the family properly from partition. In some communities there is a dirty superstition that is a daughter is killed, the next child will be a son. In China also, the eldest male child inherits the property look upon the male child as their protector and supporter in old age. This gender-bias leads to the killing of girl child.

At least, I cannot imagine my existence in this world had there been no girl. I would not have come to this beautiful world and enjoyed my life had there been no girl. I am born because of a woman. I am married to a woman. The woman is my mother, my sister and my wife.

The human society is like a cart. The God has created man and woman as the two wheels of this society cart. Those two wheels are made for each other. For the human race to exist and survive, both of the wheels must be functional else the society collapses.

In nutshell all must be kind to women with high degree of love and respect to them. There is no life without a wife and there can’t be a wife in absence of girl. Considering all the facts above, save the girl child in the interest of humanity. Saving baby girls shall minimise crime and build a powerful nation.

Museums and Galleries – Essay;

Art Gallery Inside

Art Gallery Inside

The government spends about £220 million a year supporting museums and galleries in the UK, and a similar amount subsiding the visual and performing arts. This is a huge sum to spend on minority interests, and the money would be better spent on more important things. It should be up to the people who enjoy cultural attractions to pay for them.
What are your views? (Write minimum 250 Words)
=-=-=-=-=-

I feel government must spend required amount of money on preservation and upkeep of Museums and Galleries. I disagree to the statement that the said huge sum is spent on minority interests.
In this essay we shall look at the reasons justifying this view point.

A museum is an institution that cares for a collection of artefacts and other objects of scientific, artistic, cultural, or historical importance and makes them available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary. Most large museums are located in major cities throughout the world and some more exist in smaller cities, towns and even the countryside.

Secondly, history is the study of the past, focused on human activity and leading up to the present day. More precisely, history is the continuous, systematic narration of past events with extensive research work into it. The Museums and Galleries tell us about the past and History and are the most important and valid source for the study and research work on the subject of history for historians; those who study it as a profession.

Museums and Galleries attract tourists from various countries and thereby importance of that place increases. It also earns and boosts the revenue to the government through department of tourism this strengthens economy of the nation.

It has been very validly explained in a quotation by David C. McCullough; that “History is a guide to navigation in perilous times. History is who we are and why we are the way we are”.

In nutshell the Governments must spend necessary funds to preserve Museums and Galleries in the best possible manner.

Pollution Free Vehicles

With the rise in population, number of automobile vehicles has increased considerably. In India particularly, the population count is highly alarming at 1.22 Billion. (122 Crore). The life has become very fast and vehicle is a dire necessity for all of us. None can imagine a life without a vehicle.

The main Prime mover in vehicles is the petroleum products like Petrol and Diesel. The motor vehicles work on the principle of Internal Combustion. Hence the exhaust emits gases like carbon-di-oxide and carbon mono oxide. Carbon Mono Oxide is a poisonous gas that is injurious to human and animal health. Excessive vehicles will discharge excessive polluting gases in the air thereby causing environmental pollution. At the same time the enormously hot engines of automobiles emit heat in the air thereby adding up in Global Warming.

On the other hand, Oil prices keep on increasing day and on. Inflation is sky rocketing. Affordability becomes constraint with many automobiles owners. Hence they mix comparatively cheaper products like Kerosene with the petrol and run the automobiles either for winning bread or for business purpose. This gives out tremendous amount of very harmful smoke in the air. Also many two-wheeler owners, who have petro-oil engines, put excessive oil or other pollutants thereby spoiling the environment by way of severe pollution.

In order to control pollution we can adopt the following measures: –
1. Minimise the use of vehicles.
2. Switch off the engines while facing a red-light.
3. Use only recommended fuel.
4. Use only recommended lubricants in correct volumes.
5. Check vehicle for PUC (Pollution under Control) at designated gas stations.
6. Ensure regular periodic maintenance of vehicles.
7. Ensure recommended tyre pressure.
8. Vehicle pooling for common destination.

In recent past some companies have manufactured battery operated two wheelers. This operates for limited distances with limited load. If population with such needs use this type of vehicle shall be a great contribution toward reducing pollution and global warming.

Summing-up, Pollution Free Vehicle is the need of the hour in this global environmental crisis.
